“What is the biggest way in which each of you kind of differs from your character?”

The cast of Parks and Recreation talks at Google. September 6, 2012. (x)

As someone who has a lot of affection for the character of Leslie, and for Amy — but, even before I was on the show, I just loved Leslie Knope. I think she’s just such a terrific character, and I always just felt protective of her, even before I was on the show. So just, I think, I want her to be happy.
— Adam Scott (x)
If you have any doubt as to what a great actor Adam Scott is, go back and watch him join a show and immediately figure out how to flirt with a tired pregnant lady. It’s not easy. If I have learned anything from hip-hop, it’s that there’s nothing sexy about a baby that ain’t yours.

“He loves to talk about acting and he’ll just, in the middle of the scene, stop and say, ‘Wait a minute, I need to get back to the craft.’ And I’ll say, ‘Okay man, whatever you need.’ And he’ll just, like, pace around a room or he’ll go punch a wall. You know, a lot of people don’t know that he used to be an acting teacher. He taught in his basement for, like, fifteen years before he made it in Hollywood — or ‘Holly Weird’, as he likes to call it. And man, he just loves to talk about craft, process. Every morning, you’ll be, like, ‘Hey, Adam!’ And he’ll be like, ‘No, no, no.’ I’ll be, like, ‘Oh, sorry. Hey, Ben.’” - Amy Poehler about Adam Scott

Poehler and Scott, who star on “Parks and Recreation” as the newly engaged Leslie Knope and Ben Wyatt, enjoy an easy rapport with one another. (Their timing was so impeccable that Poehler almost had me believing “A.C.O.D.” co-writer Ben Karlin spent time on “The Smothers Brothers Show,” even though that program went off the air five years before he was born.) In fact, I wound up feeling a bit like a third wheel — not that it mattered. x
